This one-of-a-kind workshop will have you creating incredible black and white images of urban environments using long-exposures ranging from a few seconds to 15+ minutes.
We are the only workshop facility that teaches the fine art long exposure style of shooting in North America.
This workshop is a special weekend edition only offered in the summer months. We are excited to be able and offer you this rare workshop opportunity with a sub $300 tuition fee for the first time ever. If you always wanted to learn more about black and white and long exposure techiques, then don't miss this opportunity!
The goal of this workshop is to explore the urban environment and produce stunning black and white images using long exposures. Marc has done significant work in this area, so be sure to check out his website www.MarcKoegel.com.
Long exposures can convey time in your still photographs. In the city life never stands still but is a constant flow of activity. Long exposures let you decide how much of this motion and flow of activity to extract. Very long exposures can eliminate nearly all motion from a scene.
By seeking out places with high activity levels, very interesting effects and compositions can be achieved. For photographers interested in minimalist compositions, photographing urban architecture using long exposures to blur cloud movement creates stunning imagery not achievable using other techniques.
We will spend time shooting both days Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday afternoon, we will return to the studio, download our images and discuss our results. For those interested Marc will offer his advice on post-production and Photoshop techniques but this session will be held after regular class time on Sunday evening and is completely optional for you to attend.
Our focus is to get you out shooting and to push your creativity and excitement for this style of photography into high gear!
Digital camera equipment or film in any format (including 4x5 and larger) can be used for this workshop. Please inform us if you're planning to use film as we can suggest and arrange for processing at a local pro-lab.
