Tofino Image

Marc has been leading this popular photographic tour for the past 15 years and in the process he has collected a wealth of knowledge of the area and its photographic opportunities.

For 2022, Marc is honoured to invite Alexander Otto, who will be coming from Germany to teach this workshop with him together!

Photographs above by Alexander Otto

On first glance, your instructors Alexander Otto and Marc Koegel have very different photographic styles. Alex works predominately in colour, loves blue hour light, and is an expert in meticulously planning most every photograph. Marc, on the other hand, prefers minimalistic black and white, enjoys working in virtually any lighting condition, and is more of a reactor rather than a planner. What they both have in common is their excitement for art and science of photography as well as their desire and enjoyment of teaching and inspiring others.

We hope that our paricipants will enjoy and gain from having both Alex and Marc guide them.

Each year over a million tourists visit the Tofino area making it one of British Columbia’s premier destinations.

Tofino is located on the West Coast of Vancouver Island in the province of British Columbia, Canada. At Tofino's doorstep is the Clayoquot Sound region, a world UNESCO biosphere reserve. This area also boasts one of British Columbia's most prized nature reserves, Pacific Rim National Park. Tofino offers one of the best opportunities to experience BC's pristine wilderness first hand.

Just imagine the infinite number of photographic opportunities! This workshop is very much focused to provide you with as much time in the field as possible. Expect to take at least twice as many pictures as you think you will!

This is an all-inclusive Workshop offering (just pay for your own food):

VPW’s van(s) take you from downtown Vancouver all the way to Tofino. Return trip with BC ferries is included as well.

Once in Tofino, we will stay at Tofino Resort and Marina.

For more information about your accommodation, visit the Tofino Resort And Marina website

We’ll go out shooting each day, and return for daily critiques and optional lectures.

VPW's small group policy will give frequent opportunities for one-on-one instruction.

We will meet in the evenings to go over the events of the day, share our thoughts and get prepared for the next day.

Come and join us for an unforgettable trip to one of North America’s most scenic places!
