Join award-winning photographer Marc Koegel for this outstanding opportunity to photograph one of the most beautiful places in North America.

Marc has been leading photography workshops in Tofino for the past 15 years and in the process he has collected a wealth of knowledge of the area and its photographic opportunities.

This is the first time Marc will offer his famous long exposure workshop in Tofino. The endless beaches of the area are made for this kind of photography!

We will spend our days with a mix of classroom and hands-on field work. Marc will share his process for long exposure photography, and demonstrate it in the field as well. We will also cover post production, where Marc will demonstrate several techniques using participant photographs created during the workshop.

Techniques covered will not be limited to long exposure photography, Marc will also cover multiple exposures and intentional camera movement.

Please note this workshop is offered on a tuition only basis - you are responsible for your own accomodation, food and transportation to/from and around Tofino. There is a multitude of accomodation options available, from camping to 5* luxury hotels and resorts.

Workshop hours are minimum 9am to 6pm each day, and we plan go out for (optional) group dinners afterwards.

We will be using meeting facilities located in Tofino, and Marc will provide everyone with detailed daily directions and driving instructions.

Meeting Location:

The workshop begins at 9am sharp. Please meet at the Tourism Tofino Visitor Center, 1245 Hwy 4, Tofino, BC. The workshop will end at the same location on Sunday by 6pm.

Our itinerary will be kept highly flexible so as to take advantedge of the weather. All registered participants will receive more information about our daily schedule about 2 weeks before the workshop begins.

Physical Rating: 2/5
For this photo tour, only short hikes of between 5 and 30 minutes are planned. Elevation gains will be minimal, and most trails are boardwalks with stairs for easy accent / decent. There are some areas where we hike over sand and uneven ground. It is recommended to bring sturdy hiking boots and dress in layers (with the outer shell being waterproof).

Please feel fre to contact Marc Koegel directly with any questions / comments.

"More important than leaving the course with only technique knowledge,
I left the course with a better understanding of myself as a
photographer."

"As the world of photography changes so does the market for photo workshops. I have attended enough of these to feel confident that I am a very good judge of what constitutes a poor vs. good vs. great workshop. Not one to settle for mediocrity I researched what I felt would be the best photo workshop covering long exposure and Minimalism. It didn’t take long for me to find Marc Keogel and Oliver Du Tre as they were offering a 3 day course in Calgary photographing the pristine prairies and the almost mystical scenery in those snowy fields.

For those of you who know Marc Keogel you know he has dedicated his life to his family and his unique business of owning and operating Vancouver Workshops in Vancouver, BC. Marc has many fine qualities but teaching photography is where he really shines. He has won many prestigious photo contests internationally and is well recognized as one of the best in his genre.

Oliver Du Tre is also a well known Black and White Minimalist photographer and his passion for his work is at another level. Oliver simply sees the world with a different set of eyes and he works extremely hard in the classroom and in the field to help each participant at any skill set. Oliver has put together a very clever and educational set of presentations which he uses to describe his approach to what is involved with making a great image.

For those of us who have attended field workshops we are all too familiar with the leader bringing their camera into the field and being more concerned with their images than your own. This is most definitely not the case with Marc and Oliver as they constantly walked around to assist in composition, technique and just overall making sure everyone was comfortable.

I am proud to have made the decision to attend this intense course which has absolutely raised the bar on my photography. I eagerly look forward to continuing my relationship with Marc and Oliver and I most certainly will be attending more amazing workshops offered by Vancouver Workshops"

"Marc's skill and enthusiasm for teaching is only matched by his incredibly inspiring photographs. Thank you for a great workshop today!"
