Workshop course description provided by Arthur Meyerson:

The great color photographer Ernst Haas once said, “The decisive moment in black and white is not the same in color. Each needs awareness in seeing and, because of this, a different discipline.”

This workshop is for serious amateurs and professional photographers who want to heighten their awareness of seeing in color and record those distinctive color moments. Through daily assignments, critiques, and discussions, you will acquire new techniques making you more sensitive to light, color and composition, necessary for capturing those fleeting instants when all three of those elements come together.

The week begins with a review of each photographer’s images and a discussion of personal and career goals. In addition to addressing the aesthetics of the color moment, Arthur leads group critiques and spends individual time with each participant addressing their photography. He guides participants in applying their unique vision of the world to develop and refine an individual style for creative fulfillment and professional success. Daily assignments in the field put classroom techniques into practice and allow us to take advantage of the stunning light and colors of Vancouver and Victoria.

For one of our shooting tours you will be traveling by luxury vans and ferry to Vancouver Island (about a 2 hour scenic trip from downtown Vancouver). Beginning with a ferry trip that yields rare marine image opportunities, you'll then go on to visit the famous city of Victoria with its bustling streets, historic landmarks and picturesque parks and waterfront. Staying overnight in Victoria you will have two full days to explore this amazing city.

All land transportation and accommodation in Victoria (4* Hotel) are included in the price of the workshop! You are only responsible for your accommodation in Vancouver for the duration of the workshop.

Participants will leave at the end of the workshop with a more dynamic portfolio, a greater awareness of their strengths, new technical skills, and an enhanced sensitivity in capturing the “decisive moment” in color.
