This one-of-a-kind workshop will teach you how to make stunning black and white images using long-exposures up to 15+ minutes.

For the second time, this workshop is offered in Europe. Join us in Domburg, Zealand Province (The Netherlands) this July 7th and 8th, 2012.

We are proud to announce that this workshop will feature a special guest instructor presentation. Award-winning Photographers Joel Tjintjelaar and Marc Koegel will join forces for this workshop!

Both Joel and Marc have received recent awards at the IPA (International Photography Awards) for their long exposure photography.

This is one of the very few workshops available that teaches the long exposure style of shooting, made popular by photographers such as Michael Kenna, David Burdeny, Michael Levin, Joseph Hoflehner and many others.

This workshop has been specifically designed to take full advantage of the amazing natural surroundings of Domburg, a small beach town in the province of Zealand (The Netherlands).

We’ll be shooting all around the area, pushing the limits of these techniques to its creative maximum. This area is a one of the best on earth for shooting long exposure sea-scapes (such as Lighthouses, old piers, even the famous Zealand Bridge). Both Joel and Marc have photographed extensively in this area, and bring a wealth of knowledge of shooting locations.

Our workshop will be histed at the luxurious Bad Hotel Domburg. This hotel offers an incredible central location, some of our shooting ocations are within walking distance!

Digital camera equipment, or film in any format (including 4x5 and larger) can be used. Students can choose to shoot in black and white or color.

Anyone who has ever tried to use long exposure techniques will quickly recognize that it is not only a serious technical challenge, but also an emotional and visionary one. Where and how do you find suitable subjects, and what approach do you use to photograph them? What techniques do you employ to turn everyday subjects into stunning pieces of photographic art?

"When I am out shooting in the field, I often hear comments like this: "Excuse me, sir, but what are you photographing right now? All I see is water, how can THAT be a an exciting photograph?" These same people are blown away when I show them the final image." "...I would have just walked by, never thinking this scene could be transformed into something this moving and visually powerful." - Marc Koegel

This is exactly what you will learn in this workshop. Not just how to work the techniques, but also how to see. Even a master of technique will only produce weak photographs if his or her vision is not up to par.

This workshop will be taken through the journey required to generate beautiful black and white, as well as color, long exposure photographs. Through exercises in the classroom and in the field, you will refine your photographic vision and set out on the way to becoming a better photographer.

Please note: This workshop will include post-production demonstrations of both Joel's and Marc's award-winnig imagery. Get a rare glimpse at how these 2 photographers achieve their images.
