Vancouver Photo Workshops is proud to announce this unique Fine-Art Long Exposure Architecture Workshop with international award-winning photographers, John Kosmopoulos and Marc Koegel

Held in Berlin, Germany, this 3 day workshop will have you shooting at fantastic locations all while exploring creative techniques, angles and photographic vision.

This workshop is aimed at covering fine-art long exposure photography techniques as well as post processing, but participants are welcome to photograph using more 'conventional' techniques as well. We will provide you with the insights into the vision and perception of two outstanding photographers: John Kosmopoulos and Marc Koegel.

Throughout the 3 day workshop, there will be many opportunities for shooting the major architectural attractions of Berlin. We'll also be photographing many hidden gems we'll find along our routes.

We'll be able to use public transportation to most of our shooting locations, and may also be using car-pooling to get us arround. More information about specific routes and transportation options will be sent to registered students a few weeks before the workshop.

At each shooting location there will opportunities to interact with the instructors and discuss any questions you might have, from technical to creative and beyond.

In addition to being out with our cameras, we will also place a strong emphasis on 'classroom' learning by way of presentations done by each instructor.

And we won't forget about spending time to review your work!

Finally, we are excited to announce that this workshop weekend will feature prizes and give-aways by the instructors as well as selected sponsors. By participating, you automatically become eligible to win!

For this workshop, digital camera equipment, or film in any format (including 4x5 and larger), can be used. Students can choose to shoot in black and white or color.

The workshop will be held at the following location in downtown Berlin:

Dussman-Haus, Friedrichstrasse 90, 10117 Berlin

About Your Instructors: John Kosmopoulos:

toronto

John Kosmopoulos is an internationally award-winning photographer who specializes in architecture, abstract, long exposure, and minimalist black and white fine art photography. His work has been published extensively and has been featured in galleries.

He lives with his family in the great city of Toronto where he balances his passion for the photographic arts with his love of the behaviour sciences as a consultant and educator.

His love of architecture has also brought him to cities like New York, Prague, and Berlin for opportunities to expand his portfolio and his vision in a meaningful way.

“I am fascinated by the geometry, symmetry, and abstract nature of any urban ecology. When I analyze architecture, I tend to dissect structures and compose them in my own mathematical alchemy of angles, light, time and space. My analysis often runs counter to the intention and function of the urban landscape. This is my way of harmonizing the city in the way that I envision it... Architecture often offers the music and photography offers the lyrics click by click – the unique signature of the photographer.” ~ John

"The two-day Fine Art Long Exposure Photography workshop in Toronto with Marc and John was amazing... I have learned so much in a short period of time. I have met amazing people and now have a huge amount of knowledge that i can apply in the future. Marc and John are very passionate and knowledgeable in their craft...I cannot wait to attend the next one!"

"Thanks to you both for a great workshop and some terrific camaraderie. I gained a lot of confidence and insights as well as technical know how over the course of our two days together."

"When attending a workshop there are certain things that will set it apart from others. Firstly competency of instruction and second the power to inspire. John and Marc possess both of these qualities and more. The right mix of theoretical and practical activities makes for enjoyable and productive sessions. John and Marc take an artist’s vision and make it accessible. I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and have become a better photographer and artist as a result. Thank you both."

"After explaining how he thinks of composition, John took us out onto the streets and showed us where to look to see compositions in the manner he describes. John's passion about image making extends to his thoughtful teaching method. Absolutely superb!".

"Marc's knowledge and skill is evident in his photographs, but it's not until you're in his workshop until you experience his open and warm teaching style. The workshop was a thrill!"

"Marc, earlier this fall I took your Long Exposure Workshop and ended up with a number of prints I quite like. I went off to practice on Pender Island and ended up with an image that did well in the local camera club competition. So thanks for your contribution."

"Hi Marc, I wanted to let you know, I won a merit award in the B&W single image contest. Please let me know when you have another Long Exposure Workshop shooting in a different location. Thanks."
