During your week in Iceland you will be taken through the journey required to generate beautiful black and white, as well as color, long exposure photographs. Through exercises in the classroom and in the field, you will refine your photographic vision and set out on the way to becoming a better photographer.

Digital camera equipment, or film in any format (including 4×5 and larger) can be used. Students can choose to shoot in black and white or color.

Anyone who has ever tried to use long exposure techniques will quickly recognize that it is not only a serious technical challenge, but also an emotional and visionary one. Where and how do you find suitable subjects, and what approach do you use to photograph them? What techniques do you employ to turn everyday subjects into stunning pieces of photographic art?

This is exactly what you will learn in this workshop. Not just how to work the techniques, but also how to see. Even a master of technique will only produce weak photographs if his or her vision is not up to par.

On this workshop, you’ll take both your photography and your digital processing skills to the next level.
